L’Immigrante Barbera 2021

This wine has force to it. It tastes of leather and earth and, thought it isn’t heavy it strides purposefully through the mouth. It’s grown in the King Valley in North-East Victoria but it sure does boast some Italian flavours. It’s very dry through the finish “though deliciously gamey and floral“ and, as with a lot of such savoury-styled wines, it’s more about the drinking experience than it is about the score. Rustic styled Pasta’s – Farfelle al Pomodoro Fresco (Farfelle with Tomato & Herb Sauce) or something gamey such as Coniglio in Umido (Stewed Rabbit) would be perfect for this wine.
